thursdays and fridays are my usual days off from school. yesterday was a pretty much normal chill out day. i was over at a friend's house, watching Man Vs. Food on the travel network. seriously, that show is not what you want to watch when you're on a diet. Adam Richmond has his ways of making your mouth water whenever watching him eat. the episode we watched yesterday was about the ramen challenge at orochan ramen place over at LA. my friend and i were just like "now i want some ramen!" we googled the shit out of the best ramen places around corona. we then found MOMO's. it was about 7 minutes away, and so we decided to give it a try.
i know trying out a new place is scary. you'll never know what to expect. the place wasn't so big, but it felt homey. nice wooden tables, chairs and detailing. service was wonderful! there was an all you can eat bar, but we didnt go for that cause we only had an hour to eat. since my friend had to run some errands. it was actually my friend's first time trying ramen, so i was hoping it would be good. i ordered, the mild-spicy beef ramen without the vegetables, and he ordered the spicy shrimp with everything on it. the server was really nice, tho her English was a little hard to understand.
food was served in like 20 minutes, and i'm glad they serve it on medium sized bowls and that it was packed with noodles. seriously, nobody wants a super soupy ramen. i knew it was going to be good because it smelt delicious! and it was! i have never had ramen this good before. price and quantity was pretty reasonable for $10. i would pay $20 for ramen this good! :)
so overall, it was one of the best ramen experiences i've had. :)
give it a try! MOMO Sushi Japanese Restaurant is located at :

MY TONGUE "RING" STORY.
from the culture that i was raised in, body piercings, tattoos are considered taboo. im not saying that my culture isnt diverse enough, but we have been raised to believe that being, and staying simple is the ONLY or the BEST way to go.
of course, with the rebel in me, i begged to differ. i wanted to explore, and see how far i can bend the "culture" im in. specially seeing how my generation is defying whats expected has been one of the things that has convinced me into wanting to do something "taboo".
24th of January 2010,Davao Philippines: i was hanging with family at the mall, spending one of my last few days in my hometown, i just had this idea of getting my tongue pierced. since i money wasnt a problem anyway, and I'M WAY PAST OVER DUE FROM GOING "HOME" to MD , i said to myself "fuck culture, and fuck whatever people will think". being raised in a solid Christian family, i knew my parents were going to be totally against it. but oh well, i was already at the tattoo shop, with my brother, and sister; ready to get my tongue pierced. after a few minutes of waiting, i FINALLY, FINALLY HAVE IT!
it was definitely one of those moments that defined me, that defined Janna. i conquered fear, i conquered pain, and i definitely did! i have always, always been this shy, quiet asian chick who's afraid of everything. afraid of what people may say, may think, may do. but that on that day, i said "but hey, i did it, i went pass through it". talk about trypanophobia! the moment i saw the needle that was going to be used to poke me, i almost fainted. but, like i said, FUCK IT, im getting this shit done, and over with! :) the pride i felt that day was truthfully one of the most self-fulfilling moment of my life.
but still, with the freak in me, i took prophylactic antibiotics just because i feared infections, and thats one thing i didnt wanna mess with. lol i dealt with a week worth of pain, on my tongue, and was on a soft diet. it was HELL.
so,what good did getting my tongue pierced ever did to me? self-fulfillment i may say? and of course, tho as usual as it is over in california,it sure is still something new for an asian chick to have ! ;) which lures my prey into being more interested in me! haha jk. seriously tho, i coulndt imagine myself without my tongue ring. its a part of me. its one of the things that DEFINES JANNA ;)

Nurse Janna, at your service! :)
whenever you say "i'm in nursing school" people think you're just in it for the paycheck. truth is its NEVER glamorous, it is all about self-fulfillment, and service. nursing wouldn't make you a millionaire, but it will make you help save lives which is way valuable than all the things money can buy.
getting up at 5 in the morning is torture. never getting enough sleep is hell. but seeing people get better because of the devoted care you provide is worth every sacrifice. you can only do so much to give back to humanity. -- THIS, IS MY CALLING. :) -JANNA LU 03-17-2012

dining at Olivia's Mexican Restaurant, RIVERSIDE. food was bomb, service was awful.
my boyfriend has been constantly nagging me to dine with him there. so we finally did, place was small but pretty decent. food was bomb, but the service was AWFUL! the server asked my FRIEND if he wanted a refill of his drink, but never bothered to ask me. but i asked HER anyway. she refilled my friend's by bringing a pitcher to the table and poured it there. however, pissed as she was when i asked for mine, she came back bringing a glass of my drink, but didnt bother to put away the old glass i was using, and didn't even ask if i needed a straw. plus, she held my drink that her fingers were almost swimming in it! she also did serve our food by just putting it in front of us, and took off back to the kitchen, didnt even bother to ask if we needed any salsa or anything. it was completely disappointing, because we did look forward to dining there. . the server's name was CHRISTINA by the way.

2012
it has been forever since i have posted anything. reason? i forgot my password, and which email i use for this account. nothing much has changed actually. my life's still been pretty boring. i do nothing but study, and go out if i can (which rarely happens since i dont have weekends off.). i have been on top of my game. im doing great in school, loving providing my patients the care they deserve, and all that. but i still do hate the monster that my sister has become.lol
